Impact of The Nashville Bomb "Icepalooza" Cyclone Update

01 February 2026

After Last week's ice storm,  I realized how poorly prepared we were in the event of a power outage.

Fortunately, we did not suffer outages in Huntsville, but we would have been in trouble if we had.

We did loose power & heat in our showroom in Franklin, TN, and only by dumb luck, did we survive without broken pipes & flooding, because the power outage was brief and not prolonged.

However, there are tens of thousands of our friends and neighbors in the middle Tennessee area, particularly in the NES/ Davidson County area that are still without power... Despite Herculean efforts by NES crews.

So, with another severe Artic Blast storm inoming, we've stocked up on essentials, including fire wood, for the fireplace, ceramic heaters, for supplemental heat, and a dual gas/propane generator to keep our LED lights, heaters & coffee maker running.

Electric Blankets are low energy consumption (100- 200 watts) and can be lifesavers. Both Dewalt & Ryobi make power inverters, that you can snap one of their batteries into.  That can feed that electric blanket if you don't have a generator.

You'll need two or three  8 Amp batteries to get through the night at mid level heat... but if you bundle up, lots of blankets.. this can keep you alive!

These are Amazon links, but Home Depot & Lowe's keep these on their shelves.
